Asos, based in the UK, sells fashion wear and beauty supplies and until now had not entered the children’s clothing market. That is going to change when the collection called Little asos is available in February 2009.

This line of children’s clothing will actually be a collection of over 40 designer brands. Parents will find child-sized fashions made by Tommy Hilfiger, Miss Sixty, and Diesel.

The asos collection will include clothes for children up to age 6. Besides the designer brands, there will also be special lines created just for asos. The company will be the only retailer carrying Lee Kidz in the UK. Lee Kidz is a children’s line of clothing made by Lee which is a popular US brand specialising in jeans. Asos will also sell children’s clothing designed by Tico Torres of the Bon Jovi band. Naturally the line, called Rock Star Baby, will have a rock and roll theme.

Most of the time children need durable play or school clothes like hoodies and t-shirts. But there are going to be those times when the kids need to dress up for special events. Companies like asos plan on creating a successful online marketing niche in children’s fashion just for that reason.
