Well now that Strictly Come Dancing has returned, I thought I’d check out how the stylish dance professionals are doing on the fashion front.
I’m always amazed at how the so-called celebrities get all the attention and the professional dancers are thrown in as an afterthought. What a scandal!
Imagine being a ballroom dance champion and all the talent, dedication and hard work it takes. Then imagine partnering Christopher Parker, labouring for weeks on end trying to give him a thousandth of the skill you’ve got in your little finger, and knowing you’re getting paid half his money for the privilege!
The dance professionals are always immaculately turned out. In a recent photo shoot to launch the series, the male Strictly professionals looked vibrant, every single one of them in crisp one hundred per cent pure cotton shirts.
There are those who say they prefer cotton mix in a shirt, adding polyester or some other inferior yarn to bring down the cost. And even Ben Sherman I notice are offering 78 per cent cotton in some of their latest range.
But believe me, apart from making it cheaper, adding polyester does nothing at all to a shirt apart from making it look like a poly-cotton shirt. I can tell just by looking, and the wearer will notice the poor quality feel, reduced breathability and overall poor appearance of his cheaper shirt.
You can’t do better for men’s style than the Strictly professionals, so follow their fashion tip and insist on pure cotton.
